Ritual

Skincare in the right order

A routine is a list. A ritual is an order — a sequence in which every step earns the next its place. That is the only real difference between them, and it is the whole difference.

Skincare works from lightest to richest. Water before oil, fluid before cream. In this order each step lands on skin that is still receptive after the last; in any other order the richest product simply closes the door on the rest. Everything below follows this one principle.

We keep three rituals because the skin doesn't ask for the same thing every day. The first is the day itself. The second is renewal, added when the skin is ready for it. The third is a concentrated answer, kept for the weeks that need it.

Begin with the first ritual and stay with it for as long as it serves you. What lies further on is not a promotion — just a different kind of attention, kept for a different kind of week.

I

Daily · morning and evening

The face ritual

Four steps, morning and evening. Not because four is a magic number, but because each one prepares the skin for the next, and the last holds everything in place.

This is the ritual that does most of the work over a lifetime. It asks for five minutes and gives back the kind of result that only comes from repetition — which is the kind worth having.

  1. 01

    Step one

    Cleansing

Every other step depends on this one. A cleanser lifts the whole day off the skin — sunscreen, city air, the sebum the skin made itself — without disturbing the barrier that holds in moisture. Afterwards the skin should feel clean, never tight.

How — damp skin, a small amount, thirty unhurried seconds, lukewarm water. On days with make-up or sunscreen, reach for an oil or balm first and the gel after it; the oil dissolves what water can't, the gel removes what the oil leaves behind.

  2. 02

    Step two

    Toning

The quiet step — and the one most often skipped. A toner restores the skin's proper pH after cleansing and leaves its surface damp, which is exactly the state in which everything you apply next absorbs best. Think of it less as a product and more as preparation.

How — pat it into the skin with your hands rather than wiping with a cotton pad, and move on while the skin is still damp.

  3. 03

    Step three

    Serum

This is where the actives live. A serum carries a high concentration of what the skin really needs in a light, fast-absorbing base — applied after toner and before cream, so nothing stands in its way. It is the step that changes the most — kept daily, not intensively and only on special occasions.

How — three or four drops, warmed between the fingertips, pressed into the face and neck. Give it a moment to settle before your cream.

  4. 04

    Step four

    Cream

The seal. Cream is the richest element of the ritual and that is precisely why it comes last: it slows water loss from the skin and keeps everything beneath it where it was applied. On skin that is still slightly damp from the previous steps, it works twice as hard.

How — a small amount, warmed, spread upwards and outwards. In the morning, sunscreen goes on top — the one step that protects everything the other four do.

Five minutes kept every evening will always beat forty minutes on special occasions. If, on a tired evening, one step has to go, keep cleansing and cream; those two alone are a complete, honest ritual.

Weekly · 2–3 evenings

The Exo + Spicule ritual

In this ritual two ideas meet. One opens the door; the other walks through it.

Spicules are microscopic mineral needles, sourced from a freshwater sponge and milled into a powder so fine you can't feel it at all. Pressed into the skin, they open countless tiny channels in its outermost layer — lifting dull surface cells and letting what follows travel further than it could on its own. A gentler, more gradual cousin of resurfacing.

Exosomes are what travels. They are nano-sized vesicles carried in the plant extracts we use; they act as messengers between cells and are studied for their role in renewal, comfort and the look of firm skin. On their own they are a good ingredient. Behind spicules, they are in the right place.

This ritual is weekly, not daily. It is renewal, and renewal needs the days in between as much as it needs the night itself.

    Concentrated form

    Skin booster

Plant exosomes carried on hydrolysed sponge spicules, in a shot made for mindful use. Its 2000 ppm strength, named after the amount of spicules it carries, is enough to renew the skin's surface without overloading it.

  2. 02

    Renewal in balance

    Lacto Spicule

Renewal with a postbiotic note. Lactobacillus ferment — a gentle product of fermentation, not a live culture — is studied for supporting the skin's own microbiome and barrier, which makes it the choice for skin that wants smoothing without losing its balance.

  3. 03

    Soothed renewal

    Cica Spicule

The same renewal, soothed. Centella asiatica — cica — brings asiaticoside and madecassoside, long used in Asian herbal traditions to calm redness and support the barrier. For skin that reacts easily yet would still like to keep a resurfacing step — this is the way.

How to keep this ritual

To begin, two or three evenings a week. Never more at the start, and never two nights in a row. Spicules keep working after application; give the skin its days off.

Clean, dry skin. Cleanse, pat dry gently, then press in a small amount with the flat of your fingers. Don't rub, and avoid the eye area.

A light tingle is the point here. A gentle prickling as the product settles means the spicules are doing their work. Lasting stinging, burning or redness means the dose was too much — rinse off, wait a week and use less.

Always finish with cream and wear sunscreen the next day. Freshly renewed skin deserves more protection, not less.

Do a patch test on a small area before first use. Skip this ritual when your skin is broken, sunburnt or fresh from an in-clinic treatment, or if you use prescription retinoids — and if you are pregnant or unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Occasionally · a 7-night course

The hydration ritual

Some weeks are drier than others. A flight, a fever, a winter of dry offices, the days after a renewal ritual — your skin tells you, and this ritual answers.

An ampoule is the most concentrated form skincare takes. Where a serum is composed for every day, an ampoule carries a higher dose of actives and is meant to be used with intent: a short course of nights, not a fixture. It is the difference between a meal and a medicine.

Precisely because it is concentrated, this ritual is at its best when it stays occasional. Skin that always gets everything stops noticing any of it.

  1. 01

    A single dose

    Ampoules

A single, sealed dose, taken between toner and cream — on nights when the skin feels tight, dull or simply tired. When the season changes, use one every evening for a week, then return to the daily four and let them hold what you have gained.

How — cleanse, tone, then pat the ampoule into damp skin and give it a moment to settle. Seal with cream; without it, the moisture you have just added will leave the same way it came.

Hydration is not something you achieve once. It is something you keep — mostly through the daily ritual. This one is simply here for the weeks when keeping it takes a little more.
